Felice's Place is a small family-run business with over 50 years’ experience. We choose the finest quality, naturally reared breeds and then dry age the meat for 28 days on the bone so that you get the most mouth-watering, succulent and tender morsels of meat you can find. Hungry yet?

Meet Felice Marandola, he was born and raised in Springvale, Victoria and is the youngest of four boys to Angela and Dominco Marandola. Felice started his first job at the young age of nine and a half years old as a clean up kid in Springvale. At 13 years of age Felice's dad was called to Noble Park Tech, Felice had been kicked out. Dominco was not impressed to say the least, he demanded that Felice find a job or a new school. With all of Felice's determination he found himself an apprenticeship in butchering at University Meats in Hawthorn with the legendary "Frank Mar". Felice had found his calling, in 1988 Felice came third place in the Work Skill Austraila Expo and completed his Apprenticeship in Butchering in 1990. Felice worked alongside his brother Mario for many years, Felice's charm and passion won many hearts of which he built great relationships. One heart in particular was that of a good Italian girl formerly known as Daniela Perri. Daniela had heard that there was a handsome Butcherlor that she just had to "meat". Lets just say they locked eyes over the counter and the rest is history. Felice and Daniela got married in 1999, the moved to Elwood where Felice launched his own business in 2003 - Elwood Gourmet Pantry - now popularly known as Felice's Place Gourmet Butchers. Word was definately out on the streets in Elwood, a new butcher was in town, there was a small adjustment period for the new butcher but the locals soon came to love him and his unique style. In 2008 Felice and Daniela celebrated the birth of their son Gianluca, who is a "chip off the old block". Over the years Felice has work tirelessly to produce premium homemade products which are Chemical Free, Free range and healthy for families to eat and enjoy. In 2014 he was recognised for his famous ham winning - The Best Ham award in 2014 - Australian Industry Meat Awards.
As Felice's vision continues to grow so does the business, Felice started to supply his gourmet meats to some of Melbourne's famous eating spots, so he needed to expand. This marked the opening of his wholesale plant in Cheltham in 2014. Felice is a firm believer in that there is "no subsitute for quality", he is a man of his word and has great intergity and respect for his team, his product and his community.
How he does it
Felice has been a butcher for 25 years and subscribes to the traditional cutting methods and seam butchery to produce the best quality, “I want my customers to have that heavenly, jaw dropping experience of eating good quality beef and that can only happen when the meat is nurtured and prepared in the traditional ways of cutting .”
The ‘ancient art’ of seam butchery involves breaking down the carcass using nature’s natural ‘seams’ between the muscles as the guides for cutting, rather than cutting across one or more muscles to produce a joint of meat. The cuts produced from seam butchery consist of single muscles and therefore prevent uneven cooking. More steaks for grilling or frying are made available and fewer cuts for stewing or pot roasting. Meat is put to better use with increased yields and less wastage all round and most of all the taste is incomparable.
